To
ensure that energy efficiency educational information got to a wider
national audience, staff of the Foundation traveled to regional
and district capitals to conduct interviews on local FM stations
in local languages. Using telephone call-ins, local residents were
able to ask questions on fuel, electricity supply and energy efficiency
issues.
Cities
and towns visited included Ho, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Kumasi and
Koforidua. The Foundation also conducted radio campaigns through
which energy saving tit bits was broadcast to listeners on leading
FM stations in Accra. The Ghana Oil Company (GOIL) sponsored a three-month
"Lets Talk Energy" programme, on Unique FM. The programme
involved a comprehensive review of the Energy Sector, touching on
issues related to energy sources, energy demand, supply and end-use
efficiency.
