the support of the British High Commission in Ghana, conducted a
major training programme for decision makers on energy efficiency.
The aim of the training was to equip the decision makers with the
knowledge and analytical tools that would enable them make informed
decisions on investments that are aimed at improving energy efficiency
in their establishments.
The
training programme comprised five modules namely:
Energy
Management Options
Energy Management Solutions for Buildings
Energy Management Solutions for Industry
Business Case for Energy Projects
Renewable Energy
The
programme was well advertised, and as such was very heavily subscribed
by industry. In all more than 200 managers from the public service,
industry and commerce participated in the various training sessions.
They acquired skills and techniques that would help them better
identify, quantify and ably present bankable energy efficiency improvement
opportunities to secure financing support from financial institutions.
Implementation, management and monitoring techniques were also taught.
The
launching of the programme which was performed by the Minister for
Energy and the British High Commissioner to Ghana, was a successful
media event receiving wide media coverage.
The Foundation
plans to organize similar training programmes for decision makers
and energy managers in Kumasi and Takoradi. The teaching material
which was developed by the Foundation for the seminar is also available
to provide in-house training to industrial and commercial enterprises.
