Energy Management at Tertiary Institutions

The Energy Foundation embarked on a process of gradually introducing energy conservation projects at the following institutes of higher education:

University of Ghana

Installation of Capacitor Bank

University of Ghana
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology
University College of Cape Coast
University of Education, Winneba
Ghana Institute of Management & Public Administration

The Energy Foundation initiated a project to install Capacitor Banks on the power systems at the above campuses. The funds for the Capacitor Bank's installation were provided by the Government of Ghana. The successful implementation of this project will save the institutions approximately two hundred and fifty million cedis per month in electricity bills.

This Foundation plans to continue to identify opportunities for energy saving interventions in other government facilities.
