Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings Project

ministry buildingThe Government of the Republic of Ghana signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Royal Netherlands government under the Activities Implemented Jointly Programme (AIJ) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) towards the cost of implementing the "Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings Project", which involved the retrofit of 21 government buildings with energy efficient electrical devices and equipment. This project which is an Energy Foundation initiative involved the supply, installation and commissioning of approved energy efficient electrical equipment, lighting fittings and control devices.

The equipment includes following:

Automatic Capacitor Banks for Power Factor Correction
Energy Efficient Fluorescent Lamp fittings and lamps
Occupancy Sensors
Energy Efficient perimeter lights
Automatic switches for air conditioners
Energy Efficient Electronic Ballast

The Energy Foundation implemented the project on behalf of the two sponsors. Under this programme the following government Ministries and Agencies had their buildings retrofitted for lighting and energy efficiency.
